James Bond Coming to Film in Fethiye

007 coming to fethiyeSomething that started as quiet rumours may for once actually turn out to be true - the next James Bond movie - to be called Skyfall - looks like it will be filmed in Turkey - including parts in Fethiye itself. The project is due to take place over three months from January to March this year (2012) and filming is understood to be commencing in a month's time - with scenes shot in the Fethiye area, the famous Hagia Sophia Museum in Istanbul and a reported scene centred around the Varda Railway Bridge - a train hagia sophia museum istanbulviaduct in Adana. The bridge/viaduct was built in 1912 and at it's greatest height is over 90 metres from the ground below. Surely Daniel Craig will be doing something spectacular on it (or from it - it is just made for a "skyfall" for somebody).

It is understood that the scenes involving the rail bridge were due to be filmed in India, but due to contractual difficulties, the scenes will be filmed in Adana instead. There's no such thing as bad publicity and assuming the project goes ahead, this should bring plenty of the best kind of publicity to Fethiye and the Fethiye area and a very welcome boost to both the local economy and the profile of the area itself.
